The Logical Scientist

"... and verily the logical scientist studied all about him with a penetrating eye, analyzing and dissecting, seeking the ultimate truth in all things. But observe that when he turned his gaze inward, all was confusion. And note that though he may have supreme control over all things material, he has yet to master his heart, for certain ladies from his past return to haunt him again and again, and he is defenceless against them."

"... And so he studies on, beseiged by the armies within his heart, haunted by his past, onwards into the dark night."
