Miramichi

Miramichi was amalgamated from the towns of Newcastle, Chatham, and outlying communities. It spans the Miramichi River.

Railroad action in Miramichi takes place in these areas:

• NBEC's Miramichi yard (including the VIA station)
• The UPM-Kymmene (former Repap) paper mill (currently closed)
• The Weyerhauser (former Eagle Forest Products) sawmill (currently closed)
• Ultramar bulk fuel depot
• LaFarge cement plant

The Miramichi yard is fairly busy, and one can always see some NBEC motive power there. UPM-Kymmene always has a collection of CN and CV boxcars, and a number of chemical tank cars. If you're lucky, you can see their locomotive out and about.
