Bathurst is served by the New Brunswick East Coast Railway and also by VIA Rail.

The major rail customer in Bathurst is the Smurfit-Stone mill. Smurfit-Stone has its own locomotive (seen below) and mostly handles boxcar traffic. There is a propane dealer just north of Bathurst (see picture below). Irving Oil used to have a fuel depot on a spur in East Bathurst but that was removed in 2001.

There is a propane dealer in Beresford, just north of Bathurst. They have a small spur, visible to the right through the trees.
